Waste management
It is a requirement that each building site is kept clean throughout the construction process and waste on site is managed to ensure it does not affect the surrounds.
Grady Homes are proud to ensure each building site remains an area each owner can be proud to look upon.
Safety on construction sites
It is a requirement on all building sites that appropriate and recognizable safety signage is installed. Persons who enter a building site must have a blue card issued in their name, or be escorted on-site by a person who does. Blue cards are a statement of achievement that the person understands the requirements and safety rules on building sites.
Soil Types
A soil test is carried out on each house site before building commences.Among other things, soil is laboratory tested to determine its reactivity which is a measure of how much the ground will expand and contract between the wet season and dry season. The soil will either be S- for Slightly reactive, M for Moderately, H for Highly or E for Extemely reactive. This information is used to design the foundations for your new home.
Wind Ratings
Living in a cyclonic area, it is particularly important that the home is engineered to meet the expected wind loads. Each building site is analysed to determine the correct wind rating specific to that site and the home is built according to that analysis. The largest impact on the correct rating is normally the shielding provided by surrounding buildings. Homes with good shielding usually are built to a C1 rating. Other more exposed homes are typically built to a C2 rating. There are other ratings but these are the two most commonly occurring wind ratings. The C represents Cyclonic.
Energy Efficiency Ratings
Every home we build is analysed using advanced computer modelling software to ensure the home meets the current government requirements. The majority of our homes substantially exceed the requirements.
We always advise our clients to choose lighter colours for there home, especially the roof, as this has a significant impact on the energy efficiency and more importantly, the comfort of living in the home.
Waste Management
As Building a home is such a dynamic process, considerable planning and effort is required to minimise waste and the impact it has on the environment. Our waste management starts before any work starts on site. We believe the best way to save the environment is to create the minimum amount of waste in the first place. We do this by paying a great deal of attention to our quantity calculations and our methods of constructions. Then to ensure waste on site is managed correctly we provide a refuse area that all tradesman must use to prevent rubbish from blowing around and to help with the general tidiness and safety of the site.

To enable clients to keep an eye on construction of their home we arrange visits with the site manager at set times during the build process.
